Hey WashCo, This weekend has range.

You can start your Saturday in running shoes, end it with a pint, detour through an aviation museum, and still have enough energy left for Debussy if youโ€™re feeling fancy. Spring is starting to show off a little, and honestly? Weโ€™re into it.

Hereโ€™s whatโ€™s worth your time this week:

Thursday Head Start: Jimmy Fortune

Thursday, March 12 โ€ข 7:00 PM
The Maryland Theatre, 21 S Potomac St, Hagerstown

Technically not the weekend. Spiritually? Close enough. If you want to get your plans started early, Jimmy Fortune is at the Maryland Theatre Thursday night.

Upcoming events

St. Patrickโ€™s Day Run Fest + Downtown Festival

Saturday, March 14
Run Fest: 1-Mile at 8:00 AM โ€ข 8K at 9:00 AM โ€ข 5K at 10:15 AM
Festival: 11:00 AMโ€“1:00 PM
Hub City Brewery, 25 W Church St, Hagerstown

If your ideal Saturday involves cardio followed immediately by community celebration, WashCo has you covered. The Run Fest benefits the Washington County Community Free Clinic, and the after-party rolls right into Downtown Hagerstownโ€™s free St. Patrickโ€™s Day Festival with live music from Poor Manโ€™s Gambit, Hub City drinks, and family-friendly fun.

SHAMROCKED! Quad State Whiskey & Beer Fest

Saturday, March 14
Starts at 1:00 PM
Washington County Agricultural Education Center, 7313 Sharpsburg Pike, Boonsboro

This is the โ€œgreen beverage, good mood, see-and-be-seenโ€ option. If youโ€™re more into sampling than sprinting, SHAMROCKED! is your Saturday lane.

H.A.M. at the HAM

Saturday, March 14 โ€ข 10:00 AMโ€“4:00 PM
Hagerstown Aviation Museum, 18450 Showalter Rd, Building 8, Hagerstown

Aviation buffs, radio nerds, and kids who believe airplanes are still peak human achievement: this oneโ€™s for you. Expect HAM radio demonstrations, emergency communication โ€œGo-Kits,โ€ and the unveiling of the museumโ€™s new original oil painting, An Enduring Legacy of Flight.

Maryland Symphony Orchestra: Dawn of the 20th Century

Saturday, March 14 โ€ข 7:30 PM
Sunday, March 15 โ€ข 3:00 PM
The Maryland Theatre, 21 S Potomac St, Hagerstown

Not every weekend needs to end with a shamrock hat. If youโ€™d rather cap things off with Debussy, Beach, and Sibelius, the Maryland Symphony has you covered. Itโ€™s a strong play for date night, solo culture time, or reminding yourself youโ€™re capable of sophistication.

Thatโ€™s it for this week.

Keep showing up, keep cheering each other on โ€” and as always, run happy! ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Things To Do This Week

  • Pop into the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts. The museum is free, open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM, and right now you can catch The Scandinavian Home: Art and Identity 1880โ€“1920 plus Kindred Spirits. It is a very good answer to โ€œwe should do something, but nothing too chaotic.โ€

  • Use the library like the local life hack it is. Washington County Free Library has storytimes, weekly Makerspace tabletop challenges, and kid/tween programs around the county. Free is still undefeated.

  • Make City Park your low-effort, high-reward plan. Walk the lake, wander the grounds, then pair it with the art museum or Mansion House. On a decent-weather day, this is one of Hagerstownโ€™s quiet flexes.

  • Hit trivia at Hub City Brewery. Thursday trivia runs 7โ€“9 PM, and Saturday trivia is also on the lineup through March 14. Bring the friend who keeps โ€œcasuallyโ€ knowing every answer.
    Upcoming events

  • Take a small detour into railroad history. The Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum is open year-round Friday through Sunday, 1โ€“5 PM. If youโ€™ve ever wondered why Hagerstown earned the nickname โ€œHub City,โ€ this is the place to connect the dots โ€” literally by rail.

Local Pick: The Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum

If youโ€™ve lived here forever and still havenโ€™t been, consider this a polite nudge. The Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum is one of those places that quietly explains a huge part of why this area is what it is. Itโ€™s open year-round on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 1 to 5 PM, and itโ€™s the kind of stop that feels equal parts history lesson and hometown Easter egg.

Food & Drink Spotlight: Hub City Brewery

Hub City is basically the social headquarters of this weekโ€™s newsletter. Itโ€™s at 25 W Church Street, pours craft beer and small-batch cocktails, and brings in food from Messy Jessyโ€™s. The vibe is laid-back, the hours are generous, and this Saturday it becomes ground zero for post-race, post-festival, and probably post-โ€œjust one drinkโ€ plans.

Did You Know?

Washington County was established in 1776 and was the first county in the country named for George Washington. Which means yes, 2026 is a big birthday year around here โ€” and youโ€™re going to keep seeing 250th anniversary events pop up all year long.
